Chemical Protein Synthesis

The chemical protein synthesis platform focusses on synthesis of complex (labelled, multimodal and multivalent) peptides and proteins. These can be used for elucidation of pathological processes and/or for the development of molecular imaging agents and drug leads. Peptides and proteins are synthesisd via solid-phase peptide synthesis, purified with high pressure liquid chromatography (HPLC) and analysed using a combination of HPLC and mass spectrometry. This approach allows total control of the target molecule; peptide cyclisation or stapling, incorporation of labels (fluorescent, radioactive), unnatural amino acids, backbones, post-translationally modified amino acids and/or D-amino acids can all be produced in our lab.
