Annemariek Driessen

Dr. Annemariek Driessen holds a Bachelor`s degree in Biomedical Sciences and a Master`s degree in Statistical Sciences for Life and Behaviourial Sciences, both from Leiden University. In 2012, she started her PhD in pharmacoepidemiology at Maastricht University within the School for Public Health and Primary Care (CAPHRI) in 2012. Her research focused on unintended effects of anti-hyperglycaemic drugs on bone health.
After completing her PhD in 2017, Annemariek continued her research at Maastricht University as a post-doctoral researcher within CARIM. Her current research focuses on effectiveness and safety of medicines, with a particular interest in diabetes and osteoporosis. In addition, she conducts research on prescribing cascades, when side effects of one medicine may lead to the prescription of another medicine.
