Technical staff
Sandrine Seyen is a Senior Research Technician in the Department of Cardiology at Maastricht University, with more than 25 years of experience in biomedical research and laboratory science.
Since joining Maastricht University in 2010, she has worked within the CARIM in the field of cardiac electrophysiology and complex arrhythmias. Her expertise combines molecular and cellular biology, stem cell research and cardiovascular research, with a particular focus on the generation of human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) and their differentiation into cardiomyocytes.
Her technical expertise includes PBMC-to-hiPSC reprogramming, cell culture and differentiation, molecular biology, cloning, genetic modification, sequencing, qPCR, transfection, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy and Western blotting. She is also experienced in developing and optimising experimental protocols and troubleshooting complex laboratory procedures.
An important part of her role is providing technical support, scientific advice and training to researchers and students. She enjoys sharing her knowledge and helping others develop their technical skills.
Before joining Maastricht University, Sandrine gained experience in different biomedical research fields at the University of Liège and worked as a Quality Control Technician at GlaxoSmithKline.
Her career is characterised by scientific curiosity, technical versatility and a strong commitment to supporting high-quality biomedical research. She is particularly motivated by learning new techniques, solving experimental challenges and contributing her expertise to collaborative research projects.
