Yvonne Henskens

Dr Yvonne Henskens graduated with the specialisations in Biochemistry and Toxicology at Wageningen University. She worked on salivary cystatins in periodontal health and disease at the Department of Oral Biochemistry, Free University Amsterdam/Academic Centre for Dentistry (ACTA). After her PhD she started her specialisation for Clinical Chemistry at the Reinier de Graaf Gasthuis in Delft.
At this moment she is a clinical biochemist, working in laboratories for the past 15 years (Amsterdam Medical Centre and Maastricht UMC+). She has been responsible for the diagnostic tests concerning hematology, hemostasis and transfusion at Maastricht UMC+ since 2003. She has special research interest in laboratory predictors of bleeding and in pre- and peri-operative management of coagulopathies: Active in the boards of the Dutch societies for hematologicallaboratories and clinical chemistry. Involved in training and education of medical and life sciences students, laboratory technicians and residents. Founder of a re-training programme on hemostasis and transfusion for technicians and clinical biochemists for the south-east part of the Netherlands.
