Recap Anna Maria van Schurman Symposium 2026
Yesterday, we held the 1st Anna Maria van Schurman Symposium at CARIM - and what an afternoon it was.
Organised by our first AMvS laureateUyen Chau Nguyen, with support from the AMvS committee and the CARIM office, the symposium brought together inspiring researchers and clinicians for an afternoon of science and open conversation.
We heard from DrVanessa Van Empelon building a HFpEF research line while navigating a clinical career, DrMyrthe van der Venon takingAquaWombfrom idea to business and a career going from academia into a company, Prof.Nele Vandersickelon bridging physics and cardiology and at the same time building harmonious teams, and Prof.Karin Sipidoon heterogeneity across many levels, times, and places.
The afternoon closed with the AMvS Award Ceremony: congratulations toElisa D'Alessandroas our new laureate, and to runners-upSabine DaemenandAmée Buziau- well deserved!
The atmosphere was open, constructive, and genuinely inspiring. Already looking forward to next year!
