Otto Bekers

Professor

Prof. Otto Bekers studied Pharmacy at the University of Leiden and graduated in 1987 with honour. He recieved his PhD degree in 1991 at the Utrecht University, title of his dissertation was 'Inclusion comlexation of cyclodextrins with some cytostatic drugs'. After this he specialised in Clinical Chemistry at the Leyenburg Hospital (now Haga Hospital) in The Hague.

Since 1997 he is working as a Clinical Chemist at the Maastricht UMC+. First as head of the unit General Clinical Chemistry and from 2014 he is professor in Clinical Chemistry and head of the Central Diagnostic Laboratory (CDL).

He is heading the cardiac marker research at the CDL and also focussed on personalised medice.
