Aaron Iding

Post doc

Dr Aaron Iding obtained his medical degree from Maastricht University in 2019. He completed his PhD (title: 'Residual venous obstruction and long-term outcomes after deep vein thrombosis') under the supervision of Dr Arina ten Cate-Hoek at CARIM. Since 2024, he has been a resident of internal medicine at Maastricht UMC+, where he combines his clinical training with postdoctoral research. He is also actively involved in the International Society on Thrombosis and Hemostasis (ISTH), currently serving as Vice-Chair of the Early Career Committee and as Co-Chair of the Scientific and Standardization Committee on Diagnosis and Prediction of Thrombotic Disease.

Aaron’s current research focusses on understanding, preventing and treating post-thrombotic syndrome after deep vein thrombosis through clinical and translational studies. He has received grants from the Netherlands Thrombosis Foundation for a pilot trial (2020) and from CARIM through the HS-BAFTA grant for Talented PhD Candidates (2023). He also received an ISTH-INVENT Training Fellowship (2023) and multiple ISTH travel grants.
