Dr. Rosing studied chemistry at the University of Amsterdam, where he graduated in 1970, having specialized in biochemistry. In 1974, he presented a PhD thesis at the same university, entitled ‘Studies on thermodynamics and mechanism of oxidative phosphorylation’, supervised by Professor E.C. Slater. Subsequently, he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at the laboratory of Professor P.D. Boyer at the University of California, Los Angeles. In 1976, he was appointed research associate at Universiteit Maastricht. Prof. Rosing is a member of the editorial board of the journals Haemostasis and Computers in Biology and Medicine and of the advisory board of Thrombosis and Haemostasis. In 2000 he was elected as a member of the council of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis. He is currently involved in research on the regulation of thrombin formation via the protein C pathway and in the effects of oral contraceptives on blood coagulation.
