| Dr. De Mey obtained his licenciate in sciences in 1977 at the University of Antwerp. At the same university he obtained a PhD in biology in 1982. He did postdoc training programs in the Department of Medicine at the University of Antwerp (1982-1983), the Department of Human Physiology at the University of California at Davis (1983-1984) and the Departments of Physiology and Medicine of the University of Antwerp (1984). He then worked until 1986 as head of the Department of Cardiovascular research at Continental Pharma in Belgium. Since 1986 he has been working at Universiteit Maastricht, where he was appointed as an Established Investigator of the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences in 1988. Dr. De Mey’s present research interest is in the pathobiology of the vascular wall in various diseases. |
