| Dr. E.M. Bevers studied chemistry at the University of Utrecht. After his graduation in 1973, he spent four years doing research at the same University in the Department of Biochemistry under the late Prof. L.L.M. van Deenen, where he received his PhD. in 1978 with a thesis concerning phospholipid distribution in the membranes of micro-organisms. In the same year he was appointed senior scientist at the medical faculty of Universiteit Maastricht. He is currently involved in research on the regulation of phospholipid asymmetry in blood cell membranes and its physiological relevance for haemostasis. He is a member of the Board of the Dutch Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, the Advisory Board of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, the European Forum on Antiphospholipid Antibodies, the European Platelet Group and the Editorial Advisory Board of Platelets. |
