In 1991 the Boards of Governors of the Eindhoven University of Technology (TUE) and the Maastricht University entered into a formal agreement of cooperation, setting the seal on a cooperation regarding the various aspects of cardiovascular research which has already lasted for over 15 years. The research collaboration focusses on three areas of mutual interest:
a. biomolecular targeting and bioinformatics;
b. biomedical imaging and signalling;
c. biomechanics and tissue engineering.
The collaboration between CARIM and TUE has been further intensified due to the new undergraduate program on Biomedical Technology, the students following this program participate in CARIM's research program in the last year of their training.
The collaboration will get a further impulse in the near future by the execution of the program' Molecular Imaging'. CARIM and TUE/Biomedical Technology applied with success for a so-called BSIK grand in 2003. Besides CARIM en TUE, Philips and Organon will also participate in this substantial research program. top
