PhD Training Program
Organization
The CARIM PhD-committee consists of Dr. A. Duijvestijn, PhD (PhD-coordinator for CARIM), Prof. J. Lodder, MD PhD, Dr. M. Blankesteijn, PhD, and Drs. K. Douma, Drs. T. Rademakers and Drs M. Ruiter (PhD student-representatives) and K. van Bragt (master student representative). The PhD coordinator monitors the progress of individual students. Furthermore he serves as an ‘Ombudsman’ for the students. Together with the CARIM PhD-Committee he is responsible for reporting possible bottlenecks in the CARIM PhD-system to the Executive Committee.
The committee’s main task is to design the general outline of the training programme, to monitor the quality of the courses and to adapt the programme if necessary. The PhD programme of the Research School is not only implemented in collaboration with ICaR-VU but also with the Eindhoven University of Technology. CARIM PhD students participate in courses in Amsterdam and Eindhoven, and vice versa, while joint courses are being organized. There is also an exchange of teaching staff.
